Library Safety Guidelines

Staff & Volunteers:

  • Library staff will work 9am-5:30pm, M-F
  • Staff members will wear masks when not behind the front desk and when social distancing is difficult.
    • Front desk will have a plexiglass barrier up for their protection
  • Several hand sanitization areas will be set up throughout the library.

Patrons:

  • Public library hours will be 10am-5:30pm, M-F, to allow for the proper disinfecting of library surfaces.
    • The library will continue to offer curbside pickup to patrons who request it.
  • Building occupancy will be monitored by staff/volunteers.
    • To avoid large gatherings, each patron will be asked to limit their time in the library.
      • Patrons may be asked to wait in their car after providing their cell phone number and name to the staff member on duty.
      • Patrons who wish to wait outside the building will be asked to follow the social distancing guidelines.
  • Patrons under the age of 10 will be required to be accompanied by an adult at ALL times.
    • Building entry will be monitored by staff/volunteer
    • To avoid going over capacity, each patron will have a time limit to be in the library.
      • This time limit will vary depending on the number of appointments there are each day.
      • Patrons will be asked to pick the items they wish to check out and then immediately head to the front desk in respect of others who wish to use the library’s limited services
    •  Patrons who are asked to wait may do so in their car after providing their cell phone number and name to the staff member on duty.
    • Patrons who wish to wait outside the building will be asked to follow the social distancing guidelines
  •  Patrons under the age of 10 will be required to be accompanied by an adult at ALL times.
  • Upon entry of the library, patrons will be asked:
    • To wear face masks if they are ages ten and older.
    • To practice social distancing guidelines.
    • To place their returned items in the bin located by the front desk.
    • To use one of the library shopping baskets to carry their items as they browse
      • Any items that have been picked up, but will not be checked out, must be placed in the bin by the front desk during the checkout process to be disinfected.
    • To provide their name and library card number during checkout instead of giving the card to the staff member.
  • Patrons who inform staff that they are medically exempt from the mask-wearing policy will be required to wait in their car and utilize curbside pickup for their library needs.
    • If the individual requires using the computer for essential needs, they will be asked to wait in their car until the library is clear of other patrons. Once it is safe, they will be allowed to enter while staff members stay in their protective areas. No other patron will be allowed in at this time. Once their business is complete, we will thoroughly disinfect before patron activity can resume.

Public Computer Services:

  • Computers #1 & #4 will be available for use
  • We will limit computer usage to 30 minutes per patron per day unless permission is granted otherwise by library staff.  
  • Staff will disinfect the computers and their surrounding areas between each use.

Misc. Library Services:

  • The large meeting room will be closed to the public at this time.
  • Seating is minimal to avoid large gatherings.
  • Use of the water fountain will be closed to the public. 
  • We will not be accepting donations from the public at this time.
  • Limited in-person programming
  • All returned items will be quarantined for up to 5 days before they will be disinfected and the check-in process begins.
  • A grace period of ten days has been placed on all accounts so that late fees are not applied during the quarantine process.
  • Signs advertising requirements & suggestions will be posted on doors & throughout the library. 

Any individual who does not comply with these guidelines will be asked to leave the premises.
